Law Firm Gersten Savage Forms
Lateral Recruitment Committee

NEW YORK, February 11, 2008 - Gersten Savage LLP, one of New York's top five independent law firms, has formed a Lateral Recruitment Committee, the firm announced.  The committee, headed by Partner Eric Roper, will concentrate on attracting partner level attorneys and senior associate attorneys from diverse practice areas, particularly focusing on real estate, bankruptcy, trusts and estates, and financial services, as well as corporate and litigation, according to Jay Kaplowitz, founding partner.

"We are targeting growth in our key practice areas and are looking to develop other areas of the firm," Kaplowitz said.  "This committee, composed of Gersten Savage senior partners, has been charged with the vital mandate of fulfilling our recruitment goals this year."

Added David Danovitch, senior partner, "We have already succeeded in recruiting a senior bank regulatory and international finance partner who will oversee our growing international banking practice."

New York-based Gersten Savage specializes in securities regulation, corporate law and finance.  The firm has an international practice that also includes litigation, tax, bankruptcy, real estate and intellectual property.

In an era of consolidation and law firm mega-mergers, Gersten Savage, founded in 1977, is marking its 31st year as an independent firm.  With about 50 employees, the firm maintains a distinct culture, Kaplowitz said.  Gersten completed $1 million in capital improvements to its Midtown Manhattan offices in 2007, and also augmented its collection of more than 50 works by modern America artists, which the firm displays on a rotating basis.

"We are seeking strategic hires, lawyers who would like to be part of and contribute to our dynamic growth," he said.
